‘Midnight DJ’ solves asylum mysteries

Multi-awarded actor Bembol Roco is Dr. Panlilio who is deadest on reincarnating his deceased wife on this Saturday’s “The Mummified Cadaver” episode of “Midnight DJ” telecast on TV5 helmed by Lore Reyes and line produced by Angelina Samson Valvieja.

The obsessed doctor-scientist holds a laboratory inside an asylum where he turns the body of his departed beloved into a mummy. He also invents a virus that transforms anyone inflicted into a zombie. Losing his sanity he spreads the virus on every corner of the hospital. Alas, the place becomes full of zombies! Victimized are the hospital personnel such as intern Kimchi (Lucia Cristobal), nurse Elvie (Angel Estrada), patient Myra (Charee Pineda), Nurse Tina (Zyrene Parsad) and the security officer (Empoy Marquez).

Our Midnight DJ Gang – Oyo Sotto, Joaqui Tupas, John Medina, Gilbert Telis, Desiree del Valle, Meg Imperial and Jenny Miller – rush to the asylum after receiving information of the missing victims but find themselves trapped inside the place occupied by zombies.

OPM music icons on stage at PAGCOR branches

The retro rage continues at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) this March, with Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons taking the spotlight at the various PAGCOR branches.

PAGCOR Heritage will feature crooner Anthony Castelo on all Mondays of March while one of the jukebox queens, Claire de la Fuente, will belt out her popular ballads at PAGCOR Pavilion every Tuesday. On Wednesdays, PAGCOR Heritage will present former MYMP singer Juris and her sultry renditions of favorite love songs.

Likewise, the enigmatic Jun Polistico will perform at PAGCOR Hyatt-Manila every Thursday, while the enchanting Carmen Soriano will serenade patrons of PAGCOR Parañaque every Friday.

Filipino music will also be showcased through a series of concerts at PAGCOR Heritage every Saturday of March. The line-up includes April Boy Regino (March 13), Aegis (March 20), Lloyd Umali (March 24), and Rey Valera (March 27).

Seasoned gig artist Spirit of ’67 will be at PAGCOR Hyatt (Main Gaming Area) on March 23 and at PAGCOR Pavilion (Allegria Lounge) on March 27. Stand-up comic Vice Ganda will be at Altitude 64 of PAGCOR Parañaque on March 25.

Stars showcase kitchen skills at ‘Kitchen Star Wars’

Snooky Serna, Epy Quizon, Yayo Aguila, Eula Valdes, William Martinez, Carlos Morales and Bamboo lead guitarist Ira Cruz showcase their kitchen skills and whip up their specialty dishes in a “celebrity edition” of the grand “Kitchen Wars and Food Festival 2010” celebrations which culminates today, March 13 in the Subic Freeport complex.

Marijo Viray, festival manager, said that the celebrities have committed to give their time and effort to join the fun and make the first-ever giant food fiesta to be organized in the country this week extra successful.

“They’re excited to show their skills in the kitchen and bare their favorite dishes that they serve their loved ones in our ‘Kitchen Star Wars,’” Viray said in a media presentation of the festival’s event schedule held at the Lighthouse Marina Resort Hotel in Subic recently.

Viray said that the food festival, which will be staged through the partnership between the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and leading Olongapo City-based culinary school Blue Spoon Culinaire headed by Le Cordon Bleu of London-trained founder-owner Chef Adrian Viray, will also be a venue for Filipino chefs to showcase their skills.
